Audience Member Wow, that was not exactly a joyride, was it? I had a feeling watching this short, that if it was stretched into a full-length movie, it would be "House of Hummingbird" (or as I call it, House of Bummingbird. buz it bummed me the hell out). Then I find out, not too surprisingly, that it was made by the same director. I saw "House o' Bummingbird" at UK with the actual director present. I told her to let a little light in some time, jeez. Not sure why the movie got such positive reviews it was so downbeat. Like this short, the little girl never really got much of a real break; at least not for long. Plus, I found some of the changes in character were too sudden, unexplained, and hard to buy. "The Recorder Exam" does give he girl, Eunhee, a very sweet, loyal friend. She also gets that much needed hug from mom. But like in director Kim Bora's full-length film, the father and brother are real lousy pieces of work. But at least they don't both just suddenly change into caring, weeping, sensitive people. Jeongone Hwang is wonderful in the lead role.
