Critics Consensus

The Red Sea Diving Resort makes uninspired use of actual events, using thinly written characters to tell a story derailed by its own good intentions.

A large part of the problem is the casting of Chris Evans as the leader of the Israeli spy ring that set up the hotel. He is most known for playing Captain America and seems not to have put aside his shield for this film. Go to Full Review

The Red Sea Diving Resort is staggering in its utter lack of self-awareness, a movie attempting (and failing) to be very righteous in its discussion of refugee rights and displaced peoples. Go to Full Review

The focus turns the film into a quintessential white savior movie, making every person of color a prop to be saved rather than a developed character. Go to Full Review

Sammer A Dec 17 antisemitic critics rating down the movie. See more Daniel L May 8 Really liked this. Well written, well cast and well directed. A nice mix of drama, action and good feels. Love that it was based on a true story. See more Dane B. M Apr 8 The critics have seen too many rescue films. They've tired of so-called true stories and thus give this film a rotten rating. And that is sad, because it is true. At times it's edge-of-the-seat scenes making it very watchable. I recommend it. Verily. See more kaneki 09/16/2024 Amazing movie 🍿 I liked it See more Manny d 06/18/2024 The idea is compelling since it is based on real events. However the movie barely scratches the surface. The first part comes across as Argo deja-vu, re-fitted to Sudan. All the critical moments are present but sloppily done. The subjects of the rescue have are almost invisible, as they play no part in the story in any real sense. See more robin e 02/26/2024 Another reason why I never read reviews here. Always think the opposite of what RT rates a movie. This was informative and well done. See more Read all reviews
