Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News A perfect present for horror fans, a bloody homage to ‘70s horror and the tropes that defined it. Rated: 3/4 Dec 13, 2023 Full Review Alison Foreman indieWire Chunky and imperfect, the over-the-top mashup of horror tropes is surprising enough to make streaming it at home feel engrossing, and imaginative enough to feel original in a seasonal subgenre with a limited window to find its audience. Rated: B- Dec 8, 2023 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com “The Sacrifice Game” wouldn’t feel like such a lumpy blend of genre conventions if its creators remixed the past with greater conviction or technical finesse. Rated: 1/4 Dec 8, 2023 Full Review Drew Tinnin Dread Central There’s a deeper subtext explored in The Sacrifice Game that never upends the sense of camp that this kind of setup needs to succeed. Feb 17, 2024 Full Review Michael Talbot-Haynes Film Threat The Sacrifice Game is like a blood-and-guts version of The Holdovers. Rated: 8/10 Jan 17, 2024 Full Review JK Sooja Common Sense Media But even if there had been more depth and mystery to Samantha, it still wouldn't have been enough to save this movie. Hugo S 1971. Three days before Christmas. A cult gang invades a Catholic schoolhouse to perform a blood sacrifice in order to summon a demon. Unexpectedly, the serial killers soon become the targets of an ancient evil. A much greater threat than all these criminals together. "The Sacrifice Game" is a seasonal horror flick with a well-crafted setting and a stylish production. However, the movie gets increasingly uninteresting and tedious, falling short of its initial premise. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/08/24 Full Review RJ F Never really grabbed my attention span full, even though I forced myself to watch it all the way through. I have definitely seen worse movies but there's definitely way better out there that I know I haven't seen yet Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Aldis H Real nice twists and turns, with a wicked ending, in the strictest sense of the word. Thoroughly entertaining. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review Art W I watched this movie having very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The movie was entertaining, well acted, and a new spin on the demon genre. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review Farah R The Sacrifice Game is a sad blend of pre-existing horror tropes that never come close to being good. The acting is mediocre, the plot is lame, and what was supposed to be a big twist was easily foreseeable. To make matters worse, there's a weird dance sequence for no reason. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/12/24 Full Review Aga Poorly made. Cheesy. Boring. Absolutely not scarring. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
