A perfect present for horror fans, a bloody homage to ‘70s horror and the tropes that defined it. Go to Full Review

Chunky and imperfect, the over-the-top mashup of horror tropes is surprising enough to make streaming it at home feel engrossing, and imaginative enough to feel original in a seasonal subgenre with a limited window to find its audience. Go to Full Review

“The Sacrifice Game” wouldn’t feel like such a lumpy blend of genre conventions if its creators remixed the past with greater conviction or technical finesse. Go to Full Review

This is one of those films that keeps you guessing all the way through and really delivers. The plot is great, the actors are delivering all the way, and there is plenty of humor sprinkled in. Go to Full Review

The script confidently switches genres in the blink of an eye, changing the stakes and shifting the upper hand with each reveal as it propels us toward a bloody climax. Go to Full Review

There’s a deeper subtext explored in The Sacrifice Game that never upends the sense of camp that this kind of setup needs to succeed. Go to Full Review

ploodie b Nov 17 After a promising start and setup, the film falls flat and dwindles to a tedious slog to the finish. A quartet of sadistic killers are stalking a small town a few days before Christmas, and end up at a girl's academy where a teacher and two students are staying during the holiday break. When they reveal the reason for their murder spree, the film takes on a more supernatural turn. But once the third act reveal happens, the movie suddenly doesn't know where to go from there, and starts to drag on with the characters wandering dark hallways uttering the same lines over and over. On top of this, one of the young girl characters suddenly is saddled with carrying the bulk of the scenes with lengthy dialogue and speeches that are written way beyond her years, and it just doesn't quite work. I got very impatient waiting for all the inevitable final moments to finally arrive. I can't recommend it, unfortunately, much as I liked the initial setup. See more Gabriel T Sep 2 It has good ideas inspired by horror classics, especially the ones released in the 70s, but its own ideas feel cheesey and lost. I feel like this movie tried to be many different thing but it has never got there See more Shamil M Jul 7 I dont really like horror movies that is reboots, remakes that we already know. But the ring 2002 was completely smart anyways this horror movie the sacrifice game is absolutely brilliant i enjoyed it. I figured out the twist fairly early but it was still great. Everything was pretty spot on. The stand outs were definitely Clara with superb acting skills for being so young, as can be said for Samantha, who were both great in their roles. The dynamic between the group of killers was fantastic. Loved the bits of comedy added in. Definitely worth a watch. See more Christopher H Mar 29 The Sacrifice game is A surprisingly solid slasher flick. Despite the often-maligned reputation of Canadian horror, this one delivers. The pacing is well-handled, and the juvenile actors hold their own, creating a genuinely tense atmosphere. While the twist ending is somewhat predictable, the journey there is thoroughly enjoyable. If you're a fan of classic slasher films, 'The Sacrifice' is definitely worth a watch.
