When Old Muo (Sun Yueh) returns from his military tour, he discovers his home is empty. While he was away, his wife and son died, and his foster son emigrated to the United States without looking back. Muo is all alone, but when talking with a friend, the idea of buying a bride comes up. Intrigued and vexed by his loneliness, Muo decides to take a chance and buys a bride (Jang Chuen-Fang). However, he finds adjusting to his young wife, a total stranger, is tougher than he had expected.
