Abby Olcese RogerEbert.com While it has some technical achievements to recommend it, the movie suffers from inconsistent pacing, as if its trying to fill time to get to the good stuff. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 10, 2022 Full Review Anton Bitel Sight & Sound Sam Walker's increasingly grotesque feature debut is as much a satire of online narcissism and viral toxicity as an alien invasion flick, as these Earth girls prove all too easy in the face of outside influence. Dec 8, 2021 Full Review Noah Berlatsky Everything is Horrible (Substack) A great premise, and the film has moments that live up to it. Rated: 6/10 Apr 15, 2023 Full Review Jessica Scott We Who Walk Here Though it features strong performances and suitably goopy creature effects, the film falters in its pacing and tonal shifts. Worst of all, The Seed exhibits a nasty misogynistic streak. Aug 17, 2022 Full Review Pete Vonder Haar Houston Press What if iMac and Mei but with a horned-up Godzooky? Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 19, 2022 Full Review Brian Shaer Film Threat Pretty people, pretty scenery, pretty disgusting. Rated: 8.5/10 Apr 10, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Lloyd S To avoid absolutely!!! Terrible story and acting. A waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review Nina E A wacky, wild ride filled with silly characters, bizarre plot twists, and a disgustingly endearing alien visitor. It's absurd and entertaining. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/17/23 Full Review Audience Member One small seed can grow into gigantic terror A meteor shower is taking place and a group of girls venture out to a house in the desert They want to party and get a clear view of the night sky But they get more than they bargained for when the meteor passes by and lands on Earth; not only do they find it but a monstrous alien life form has taken hold of them Slowly it begins to gestate inside these women one by one birthing into something inhuman This definitely isn't for epileptics mind you Director Sam Walker doesn't shy away from the grotesque body horror and gore Kinda matches the lines of 'Slither' The storytelling is kind of uneven given it's about social media influencers, trying to get the most out of one single setting, and a bunch of people who come off self-centered and unlikable Still for horror fans it gets as freaky as they come A grotesque feature debut is as much a satire of online narcissism and viral toxicity as an alien invasion flick, even if it doesn't gel together 100% Diving deeper into its premise could've benefited more as a whole but for a quick dispensable time waster it does its job fine Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/13/23 Full Review WellHelloSidney This is not a blockbuster hit, but it wasn't entirely terrible either. It was a different spin on alien invasion and how it affects 3 girls on vacation. There's gore and some freaky deaky parts in it that make for strange horror reminiscent of "from beyond". I'm not sure if I'd watch it again but it was ok for entertainment. 3 stars is fair. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Overall, those who enjoy horror films like The Thing will get a brainless kick out of this release.  Performances are pleasing as the three leads carry this film to the end.  But sadly, the main three characters are generally unlikeable thanks to childish dialogue and us witnessing their many unwise choices throughout the film.  For the most part, the film is predictable and takes its sweet time to get to the core plot,  thanks to several subplots that are uninteresting and dull to watch.  Thanks to elements such as the cast, practical effects, etc., the potential is here.  The Seed isn't something out of this world, but more of a meteor that burns fast and crashes hard.
