CKB The first Yugoslav horror film! Director Đorđe Kadijević had been making serious war films that Soviet authorities considered too sympathetic to the wrong side, so with this film he turned to fantasy to avoid their wrath. This low-budgeted production is rough around the edges, and features lots of country bumpkin humor, but there are numerous images of arresting beauty throughout. Kadijević presents his story with a refreshing naturalism, neither condescending towards nor romanticizing his peasant characters. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/27/22 Full Review Read all reviews
