Keith Uhlich The Hollywood Reporter Good intentions only take us so far, of course. Whenever Smyth moves away from the battlefield, the film is on shaky ground, with the near-comical scenes involving Strong's cowardly subordinate a real low point. Oct 7, 2016 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times "The Siege of Jadotville" valiantly fights to reclaim pride in a slice of Irish military history, but it seems to have ignored who those Irish were fighting for. Oct 6, 2016 Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times A highly diverting film that rightly honours forgotten - and subsequently mistreated - heroes from Irish history. Rated: 3/5 Sep 19, 2016 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens A story buried for far too long, The Siege of Jadotville is a testament to the dignity and honor of the men of A-Company. Oct 31, 2019 Full Review Stephen Mayne Under the Radar If only a little more attention had been paid to something beyond the whiff of gunpowder. Shorn of context, it's like playing a first person shooter in endless survival mode. Rated: 5/10 Oct 19, 2016 Full Review Robert Yaniz, Jr. We Got This Covered Though it doesn't break any new ground, The Siege of Jadotville is a well-crafted piece of filmmaking that investigates the often-contentious relationship between politics and war. Tom S A lot of John Wayne posing & battle scenes were ridiculous with heads up & bullets whizzing outnumbered 20 to one & no one killed but the enemy scattered dead all over the battlefield. Stereotypically bad in every way. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/29/24 Full Review Jakob F An economical account of a so-called untold true story that does well for itself with it's energetic portrayal of combat that could’ve easily fallen flat, but which nevertheless botches the context of the broader historical narrative, all while getting halfway to establishing an empathetic tie to it’s ensemble cast who are largely amusing—but who doesn't enjoy laughing at the Irish? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Jay N Unfortunately not very realistic, this story deserved to so much more. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/29/24 Full Review Gary M A poor movie on almost every level. Hardly a "True Story". More like a Forrest Gump comedy than a reasonably accurate adaptation of a historical event. Soppy dialogue and ridiculous battle scenes. The producers of this farce did a great disservice to the Irish soldiers. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/18/24 Full Review Elliot S Full of lies and fabrications. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Johannes S The Siege of Jadotville is a simple movie about forgotten glory. It is one-dimensional but it's also not trying to do more than tell the story of these dishonored soldiers. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
