It didn't need to rely on the gimmick of trying to make it look like old, degraded film stock, it already felt like a lost movie. With authentic looking degraded looking film stock, a great score, plus a creepy killer and a wintry campus/sorority house setting, every genre trope and convention is superbly consructed. The bad part is that it only had one nude scene and plenty of scenes where there should have been nudity. I found this to be very annoying. If you are going to pay homage to a genre then do it correctly.
