Synopsis
Ira Davidoff (Martin Balsam) is a television writer who's never given much thought to what kind of social responsibility his job entails. But when a young boy is inspired by one of his teleplays to start a fire, the boy ends up killing himself, and Davidoff becomes the subject of a lawsuit. Attorneys for the boy's family allege that the script is to blame, and they're soon joined by both opportunistic politicians and various TV advocates who're equally keen to paint Davidoff as a villain.
