Connie H A really dumb script with terrible acting. Eli Roth is looked at by some as a top tier horror director, but his movies have sucked increasingly since he fell into some luck with Hostel. Can he not get famous actors? The cast of this movie are all awful - the line delivery is stiff and mechanical, the scenes have no rhythm, and the characters are one-dimensional. Sorry I'll never get back the time I wasted watching it. And I didn't even finish it! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This was such a neat take on the vampire movie. I loved every single minute of it... It's nice to see something fresh and the vampire theme. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review farah r Very disturbing with gory violence. Found it very hard to watch. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The worst movie!! The characters are CLEARLY foreign with terrible "Americanized" accents. The characters are boring and I just wanted them all to die. I couldn't related to anybody. My God.. I tired even writing this review but I want people to know this is a terrible movie!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a surprising small, independent horror film that was actaully intelligent and didn't dumb everything down with needless and obvious exposition. Too often horror/thrillers act as if their audiences can't understand what is happening so it was refresing to see one such movie not take that route. While the pacing could have been better (sometimes it was a little to slow in the build up), The Stranger is definently a gem of a movie especially for those who like this genre. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie had so much potential but was brought down by its own cast. They seemed very dull and their lines just didn't flow correctly or with passion. -Watched it on Netflix Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Scott Tobias The Dissolve The Stranger feels like a piece of genre revisionism only in its deliberate, grinding pace, not in any refreshing turns of the plot. Rated: 2/5 Jun 17, 2015 Full Review Chris Nashawaty Entertainment Weekly The characters are uninteresting, the mood is dour, and the big supernatural twist barely elicits a shrug. No thanks. Rated: C- Jun 13, 2015 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com It's a lousy little film that is so dark and joyless that it leaves you feeling like you wasted your time watching it. Rated: 1/4 Jun 12, 2015 Full Review Jaime Grijalba Vague Visages It’s not only the worst “Chilean” film released in 2015, it’s the worst film released this year, period. Dec 1, 2023 Full Review Amanda Waltz The Film Stage The genre deserves better, audiences deserve better, and the people of Chile deserve better than this lazy, artless nonsense. Rated: D- Feb 22, 2016 Full Review Garry McConnachie Daily Record (UK) While it's in no way perfect, there's enough going on to keep you guessing where it's headed.
