Valerii Ege D The film, which has the highest number of deaths (34) among Hammer films, has a structure that manages to be boring despite its wild side. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Good low-budget period thriller from Hammer--Killing For The Love Of Kali!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member OK adventure/mystery thingy about evil brown people and the white man who must stop them. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member an oddball Hammer effort, no monsters or noir, but an earnest effort to show a poor man's Sherlock Holmes gamely trying to point out there's a massive (yet perfectly underground) stranglers cult of Kali-worshiping thugees surrounding the bumbling English imperialists. far more grisly than most Hammer films and there's even a little moral indignation at how the English dismiss thousands of annual deaths provided no white men die and no financial interests are impacted. The action sequences aren't well articulated but it has some beautiful art direction and cinematography. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting departure for Hammer in that it's a crime film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Veering away from the sci-fi and gothic horror that was Hammer Films' bread and butter, The Stranglers of Bombay serves as a testament as to why their few adventure epics were more of a curious appetizer you later regret but ultimately convince yourself "at least you tried it" to rationalize the 90 minutes of your life you spent watching it. Reasonably well directed by Terence Fisher the movie isn't absolutely horrible but more of a dull story that was well photographed. Nothing too exciting, but it made me want to get a pet mongoose and watch Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom again. Again, not Hammer's finest hour but you can do a hell of a lot worse...
