Marne Maitland
Marne Maitland was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Maitland began his acting career appearing in various films, such as "Outcast of the Islands" (1951) with Ralph Richardson, "South of Algiers" (1954) and "Flame and the Flesh" (1954). He also appeared in "Father Brown" (1954), the drama "Svengali" (1955) with Donald Wolfit and "Bhowani Junction" (1956) with Ava Gardner. He continued to act in productions like the Horst Buchholz dramatic adaptation "Nine Hours to Rama" (1963), the Elizabeth Taylor dramatic adaptation "Cleopatra" (1963) and "Sammy Going South" (1963). He also appeared in the Edward Judd sci-fi feature "First Men in the Moon" (1964). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the action film "March Or Die" (1977) with Gene Hackman, "Ashanti" (1979) with Michael Caine and the adventurous drama "The Black Stallion" (1980) with Kelly Reno. He also appeared in the Peter Sellers action picture "Trail of the Pink Panther" (1982) and "La Neve nel bicchiere" (1984). Maitland more recently acted in the historical romance "The King's Whore" (1990) with Timothy Dalton.
