bill t A bit of a silly Lassie picture that gets even hootier as it draws to it's conclusion. Jeanette McDonald (!!) plays a grieving mother who has lost her son THANKS TO THE DOG. She retreats (with the dog!) to the country, rents a ridiculously big house, and well, learns to love dogs and kids again. She meets an orphan who sort of hangs around her so much so he can be adopted, and culmanates at a big FIRE AT THE ORPHANAGE! where, yes, someone yells "GO GET HIM, BOY!" to the dog. Pretty amazing. lol Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Eventually, almost every star at MGM appeared in a musical, and Lassie was no exception; here, she shares screen time with Jeanette MacDonald (in her last film appearance). Lassie doesn't sing, but Jeanette does. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review ashley h Sun Comes Up is a cute film. It is about a bereaved war widow who learns to to put aside her bitterness and grief as she grows to love a young orphan boy and the dog that belonged to her late son. Jeanette MacDonald and Lloyd Nolan give excellent performances. The screenplay is well written. Richard Thorpe did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the humor and the drama. Sun Comes Up is a must see.
