George H Not as good as the first and is quite generic and now takes the stakes off of the first movie because the whole point of the drama were kids are being killed if they fail a test to decrease the population. Now I don't feel the stakes because I know that they now work at a god damn factory Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/23 Full Review Victor O I was awed by the previous film, from its story and acting but also, it's absurdly difficult trying to find it because YouTube Originals making this an exclusive film. But just like the previous film, I managed to find a way to watch it and was ready for it. 2040. The world's population has grown to the point that the world must go to extremes to protect the world. In the United States, the government culls humanity's children from the moment they enter kindergarten to their final year in high school with the least intelligent euthanized in a standardized test known as The Thinning. However, the ending of the previous film shows that probably is not the case as many of the children culled in the Thinning are alive but enslaved in work camps building devices for the corporation that intends to make Texas Governor Redding into their puppet President of the United States of America. Having survived the Thinning, Laina Michaels works with an underground working against Assuru Global, doing everything to uncover the conspiracy with her friends and family protected while finding out more of the truth. All this as Blake Redding, having been claimed by the Thinning, must do all he can to escape and help his fellow Thinned to uncover the truth. Amazing! Just as thrilling as the previous movie. Once again, I will say that it is not fair that YouTube limits this movie to its site. This deserves better treatment with its spectacular storytelling, acting, etc. In many ways, this movie is like The Hunger Games, and in that same style of Catching Fire, deeper facets of the story come to life leading to a greater conflict than mere survival. It's going to be a long wait for the next movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Tina K 'The Thinning' sequel kept me guessing enough like the original film. I stuck with this dystopian drama mainly because there was enough sci-fi and mystery to keep me engaged.
