Jaker589 If subtitles aren’t for you, skip this one but the truffle market is shown well here. From the hunters to black market dealing on the street corners to the wealthy buyers at auction houses. I feel like the director had a good number of subjects on screen and their stories were displayed appropriately. But the dogs (hunters) steal the screen and the love from their owners, the old men of Italy who are a dying breed in and of themselves, is beyond apparent. Most of them single, see their dogs like wives, true loving relationships, with whom they spend all their time with on the truffle trail or indoors. Definitely recommend this film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/29/21 Full Review Facebook U The interaction between Man and Dog is worth the price of admission! Beautiful part of Italy! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/26/21 Full Review Paul There was no plot. Its more of a documentary than anything. Basically follows four older men as they hunt truffles. Zero storyline Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/15/21 Full Review John I wished there were more interludes of music, some more little snippets of women, and a more developed story. The movie was more of a downer than I was anticipating. A number of the scenes were authentic masterpiece frames of art, especially with the snow as the feature. Sun still frames are absolutely gorgeous! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/09/21 Full Review Taylor Very informative and not filmed in the traditional sense. Very enjoyable Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/09/21 Full Review Mary A charming documentary. Lovely slice of life story telling in the Italian Piedmont. Eric Kohn indieWire The movie falls short of creating a singular argument, and the effect of its poetic visuals drifts off by the end. Still, it excels at diving into the essence of a business that's antithetical to modern-day supply and demand. Rated: B+ Dec 3, 2021 Full Review Josh Kupecki Austin Chronicle While I don't have a strong desire to sample the haute cuisine of white truffles, I do have an intense compulsion to wander around the countryside with Fiona, Titina, and Birba. Especially Birba. Dec 3, 2021 Full Review Philip De Semlyen Time Out You can imagine Bill Murray, Bob Balaban and co ageing up for a Wes Anderson version of this stupidly delightful dog-umentary about elderly truffle hunters roaming Italy's misty, picture-box Piedmont. Rated: 4/5 Dec 3, 2021 Full Review Edward Porter Sunday Times (UK) With its handsome scenery, loveable codgers and cute dogs it’s a movie that wears its calculations fairly openly, but they still work. Rated: 4/5 Dec 6, 2022 Full Review Josh Parham Next Best Picture The imagery feels meticulously staged yet authentic to the lives of the people who inhabit them, and what's on display is a textured and vibrant aesthetic.
