What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Trust may not be an all-time heist classic, but its solidly workmanlike plot -- and the chemistry between Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood -- should satisfy genre enthusiasts.

The Trust is a heist movie that gives Nicolas Cage his juiciest performance since Kick-Ass and indulges some very kooky Cageian line readings. Go to Full Review

There are foetuses that would be more convincing in the role of a jaded lawman than Wood. You can festoon him with hookers and drug paraphernalia - he still looks like a newly hatched baby bird. Go to Full Review

Cage is on fine form in this slick little thriller. Go to Full Review

There's an absence of any sort of genre or thematic cohesion, leading to a film littered with tonal fits and starts that come off as more or less random. Go to Full Review

Cage returns to the Las Vegas he once famously left, joined by Elijah Wood for a simple but mostly effective heist flick. Go to Full Review

Madam D Oct 3 Cage plays a strange role of a dirty cop with a bad sense of humor & Wood is his colleague. Guess by the way things went this is a morality tale. Slow & no characters that I cared about. See more Sep 13 Absolute buzz-kill. Shitty deconstructionist garbage with a horrible ending you can see coming from a mile away. A movie script written by people who hate movies. See more Ian R Aug 2 If you like a movie with a pay off this is definitely not for you. The plot just doesn't make any sense. Two cops plan to rob criminals of their loot. One of which is clearly a psychopath. And then the intelligent one randomly changes his mind post heist and returns all the diamonds to the vault?? See more S M Mar 6 Nic Cage does a pretty good Nic Cage impression here, Elijah Wood shows he's got a little more range than folks generally expect. This is a heist movie, and does have its moments. Still, the fun feels more like an impression of fun, and there's no moral here if you're looking. Whatever comes after post-post-nihilism in the philosophy that meaning is inaccessible in a s***-happens world, this might be it. Probably not worth watching, just do nothing with an hour and a half instead. See more Cristian s Jan 31 Buena película. Historia simple y ritmo lento pero entretenida. En algo como esto las actuaciones son fundamentales y los 2 protagonistas brillan en todo momento. Tal vez esperaba mas pero en general esta bien. See more Randall C 08/15/2024 I never write reviews but this movie really sucked so bad if I can prevent one person from watching and wastingtheir time. I feel I am doing movie lovers a service. The ending is terrible and made no sense. See more Read all reviews
