      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Trust may not be an all-time heist classic, but its solidly workmanlike plot -- and the chemistry between Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood -- should satisfy genre enthusiasts.

Chance H I enjoyed it. Cage was engaging as a sociopathic cop. More character driven than action. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review KB B It was pretty good but definitely not my favorite Cage movie. It had some interesting scenes but I didn't care for the ending. I'd probably not watch it again. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review upside down shaggy Is ok it does has it enjoyable moments but some parts are dull Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/06/23 Full Review Bila Salsabila S 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/23 Full Review Michael F I found this movie to be surprisingly entertaining. This movie is not your typical rip and run shoot em up action flick or intelligently planned, ocean eleven style heist film. It's just two regular guys with no experience or logic reason to attempt this reckless pipe dream plan. The plot is unusually gripping and the ending is not as predictable as you would think. If you love Nick Cage, then you'll enjoy his character and Elijah Wood's role a stark contrast from his usual work. Despite the fact that Wood looks like a 15 year old kid . Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/05/23 Full Review Jeffrey P The idea is good, crooked evidence room officers planning a heist, and the cast is competent so this should have worked but it didn't. The attention to detail is there but it all felt wasted on the close-ups and what felt like a rushed pace Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Kevin Maher Times (UK) The Trust is a heist movie that gives Nicolas Cage his juiciest performance since Kick-Ass and indulges some very kooky Cageian line readings. Rated: 3/5 Jun 20, 2016 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) There are foetuses that would be more convincing in the role of a jaded lawman than Wood. You can festoon him with hookers and drug paraphernalia - he still looks like a newly hatched baby bird. Rated: 1/5 May 29, 2016 Full Review Phil W. Bayles Little White Lies Cage is on fine form in this slick little thriller. Rated: 3/5 May 27, 2016 Full Review Phil W. Bayles One Room With A View Man cannot live on Nicolas Cage alone, however - take him out of the proceedings and The Trust proves to be a by-the-numbers bank job with a disappointing conclusion. Rated: 3/5 Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Allen Adams The Maine Edge There's an absence of any sort of genre or thematic cohesion, leading to a film littered with tonal fits and starts that come off as more or less random. Rated: 1/5 Feb 19, 2019 Full Review Morgan Rojas Cinemacy The Trust is perfect for those wishing to see two fantastic actors paired in delightfully quirky roles.
