It's midsummer and Sweden wakes up to a state of emergency. TV, internet, and telephone networks are down, and before anyone realizes what's behind the collapse, a series of unexplained attacks take place around the country. Alex, a successful pianist whose controlled existence is upturned when his mother dies in a suspected terror attack, returns to his childhood village to arrange the funeral. There, he must reconcile with both his father and his old flame, Anna, who he has desperately been trying to forget. As old feelings come back to the surface, more mysterious attacks plunge Sweden into chaos and confusion. THE UNTHINKABLE is a disaster-thriller about time running out, and protecting what matters most.

Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's very intense, overly long, and by the end I just wanted it to be over. May 13, 2021 Full Review Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It is several different kinds of movie going on alll at once, but it's all of a piece and there's some beautiful cinematography. May 13, 2021 Full Review Eric Kohn indieWire The matter-of-fact nature of this conundrum unfolds with such subtle, elegant strokes that when a series of explosions suddenly begin to unfold across the country, they initially seem like little more than an afterthought. Rated: B May 12, 2021 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix If viewers have the patience to sit through [a long] backstory, it has a payoff at the film's conclusion, which can be best be described as walking a fine line between artsy and schmaltzy ... Not a groundbreaking movie ... but it has enough suspense. May 30, 2021 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Although it turns convoluted in the second half, the film mostly sidesteps the cheesy, over-the-top tendencies you might expect, especially considering the modest budget. May 15, 2021 Full Review Jade Budowski Decider Effective both as an emotionally affecting drama and an epic disaster thriller. May 13, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

THOMAS J A very poor job of mixing high adventure and caring about the relationships . Way too many coincidences with past relationships merging in the story constant,y. The acting was poor as well, Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/08/21 Full Review Larry M I love a good disaster thriller, and I especially love them when they spend time developing characters so that you care about them when the disaster hits. This movie has the elements to make it great, including some really good actors, but the plot is so drawn out and the conclusion so unsatisfying that in my opinion it wasn't worth the watch. I won't remember anything about this movie in a week, which ironically, is apropos. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/26/24 Full Review All Things F Excellent film about relationships and how they can survive upheaval and catastrophe. Don't make the mistake of not watching this movie all the way through. It starts with developing important relationships. You care about the people in this story. Those who failed to give the movie a chance know nothing of character development or storytelling. This movie has a powerful story and strong performances by the entire cast. I hope you stick it out to the end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/07/24 Full Review Vic W Just not a good movie. The first half is a drama which didn't quite manage to get me to care about the characters so it was just boring if not frustrating. The second half is more actiony but it's not well paced and the plot isn't clear, so even though it was the actiony part it didn't even hold my attention. Pretty forgettable really. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review Jose Raul B Although the suspense is very well managed, the plot is poor even with a two hours duration and in the end it just looks like black propaganda against Russia. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Grannen A great catastrophe-movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
