Audience Member An excellent up-to-date adaptation of the first vampire novel which sticks to the original mysterious plot but makes the appropriate contemporary changes. Another successful aspect of this translation is the fact that the novel focuses on the developing relationship between the two female characters here convincingly portrayed in wonderful performances. Like true gothic horror both "The Uncanny" and "Haunting Bereavement" are again disturbingly true to the source. This film is underrated because it is not gratuitous in sex or violence but for me its more intimate approach is intense. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Audience Member A long and ultimately pointless film. More a shame because the two female leads are well acted have believable chemistry. And it seems both of their film careers have suffered for this hateful, nihilistic tripe. So shoutout to Hannah Fierman and Elizabeth Hunter for making a depressing, poorly paced 'film' watchable. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolute piece of shit Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member This film in no way relates to the description on here. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member The bottom line is that it's an adaptation of a Gothic horror novel from the late 19th century. At the time the novel was groundbreaking, however someone unfamiliar with its past may view everything as being tired cliches. The performances are good and it has enough to keep you watching. When I tell my friends that I saw it and they ask me how it was, I'll shrug and say, "it was alright." I can't really find a reason to recommend it to your average movie-goer, or even your average indie movie-goer. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
