Critics Consensus

Elevated beyond its stagy trappings by Naomie Harris and Natalie Dormer's cunning performances, The Wasp draws blood with minimal irritation.

Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com The script is an airtight lair. Rated: 3/4 Sep 2, 2024 Full Review Ross McIndoe Slant Magazine For better and worse, you can tell that The Wasp was initially written for the stage. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 2, 2024 Full Review Murtada Elfadl Variety Morales wisely relies on his two lead actors to bring taut vitality to the proceedings. However, as he keeps putting in many circular scenes that don’t differ much from each other, the intensity of their performances starts to feel inconsistent. Aug 31, 2024 Full Review Murjani Rawls Substream Magazine To its credit, The Wasp uses that simplification to its advantage and shows the film has much more to offer. Sep 25, 2024 Full Review Sumner Forbes Film Threat The sundry plot twists are forced, and eventually we mourn the fact that The Wasp ends up in a bizarre perversion of what it was initially set it up to be. Rated: 5/10 Sep 19, 2024 Full Review Sebastian Zavala Kahn Cinencuentro A pleasant surprise; a British thriller (by a Spanish director) that I knew little or nothing about, but that I ended up loving thanks to its efficient script, excellent acting, constant surprises, and intriguing themes. Brian Blew my mind! No notes, please go in completely blind! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/05/24 Full Review Dan N Excellent film! New faces, Brit film, great performances. Great plot twists I never saw coming! Highly recommended! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/03/24 Full Review Calvin B WASP WAS GREAT. It had an amazing Plot with a twist that showed vengeance hurt despair and anger. Naomi Harris was off the chain with her acting. Dormer played a great supporting actress as well!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Kyle Underrated flick. Didn’t see much advertising if any but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. No really dull spots or lagging. Nice build and good tie together for everything as it moves along. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review Farah R The Wasp is a gripping thriller that gets you hooked from the get-go. Although it's easily discernable that the script is adapted from a novel or theatrical play, it's perfect for the big screen, thanks to good writing and great acting. Naomi Harris and Natalie Dormer are the reason this movie works, owing to their convincing portrayal of their complex characters. The Wasp is the definition of a hidden gem and should've been advertised better to reach more people. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/01/24 Full Review Creolemike H The plot was refreshingly different. It begins with, what you think is, a predictable storyline.... but nothing is as it appears. Naomi's intensity and believability as Heather's story progresses is 👏🏽👏🏽 'Top Notch.' She's come a very long way from playing 'Ms. Moneypenny' in James Bond.... to this psychological thriller. Natalie was thought provoking as 'Carla'. She, GENUINELY, made you feel her hostility and desperation. This performance is, in my opinion, ONLY 2nd to her portrayal of 'Anne Boleyn' in 'The Tudors. ' This movie was a bright light in the DULL world of Remakes and unoriginal storytelling. I enjoyed it!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review Read all reviews
