There are some decent moments but The Wasp relies heavily on exchanges between its lead characters and while they are good at times, they aren't quite good enough to recommend this movie. So what is it doing on the big screen, you ask? If it were a stage play, it would be Broadway level just on the performances alone, which were superb. The reason it makes a good movie, to me, is because of the way the plot is laid out. There is no real character development in the beginning of the film; you're left to do that on your own. However, as the film progresses, the revealed previous history between the two women exposes the character of each. There are a number of surprises along the way that keep you engaged.
