I can't be sure because I didn't read the 1976 book and I didn't see the first cinematographic adaptation of 1980, but my impression is that, beyond the budget limits and the television format, the story isn't robust enough in itself (Mauro Lanari)

I was so excited for this remake and equally disappointed. Bad acting, awkward dialogue, and odd changes to the original movie made it difficult to watch.

Absolutely awful. Terrible acting, terrible writing. Disjointed and ridiculous. The original had a nice "camp" feel to it and Bette Davis's acting saved the day. There are no saviors in this terrible remake.
