...a supernatural folk horror movie that could have been much better. It’s just too choppy and unengaging. Diane Guerrero is wonderful in the lead, but it’s not enough to make the movie recommendable. Still, if you enjoy folk horror with... Go to Full Review

Whilst it might not be a revolutionary film in terms of some of its key narrative points, The Whistler still sets itself apart through its steady, thoughtful, human-focused approach. Go to Full Review

Christian H @MatchaC 2 days ago Pretty good in a lot of ways. Worth checking out See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 3 days ago The Whistler is another movie that simply failed to connect with me. It never really develops into anything more than a lackluster horror film, and I kept waiting for the story to give me a reason to care. There were so many things missing that the entire movie felt like it was just existing without really doing anything meaningful. I wanted to feel scared or at least uneasy about the entity at the center of the story, but it never delivered that feeling. Instead, the horror lacked the tension and creativity needed to make the premise work. You can’t quite tell whether the biggest problem was the budget, the screenplay, or a combination of both because nearly every element struggles. Overall, The Whistler just wasn’t my thing. I watched it all the way through because I wanted to give it a fair review, but there was very little that kept me invested. It needed stronger writing, better development, and more suspense. This is definitely not a movie I would watch again or recommend. See more C. A @RT31127065 Aug 28, 2026 The Whistler is a solid folk story with great scenery and has quite some creepy moments. The acting is enjoyable, not mind-blowing, but it gets the job done well. It doesn't pack as much of a punch as other recent horror releases and goes light on jump scares, but it works really well as a supernatural thriller / light horror. Definitely worth a watch if you like atmospheric folklore and creepy supernatural stories. See more Due F @RT14704568 Aug 4, 2026 The Whistler (2026) blends supernatural horror, family drama, and folklore into an engaging story driven by grief, guilt, and desperate choices. Its unique mythology, emotional conflicts, and atmospheric visuals create an intriguing experience, although inconsistent world-building weakens the tension toward the finale. Overall, it's a worthwhile horror film for viewers who enjoy folklore-inspired thrillers despite its narrative flaws. by alunauwie See more Tatiana H @RT44399775 Jul 26, 2026 The Whistler was decent, though it never fully delivered on the scares. While it isn’t particularly frightening, it does have a few suspenseful moments that keep the story engaging. I also appreciated how the film incorporated an urban legend that was unfamiliar to me, which added a fresh element to the experience. If you’re looking for something different to watch and enjoy suspense more than outright horror, The Whistler is worth checking out.
