What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Wolf of Snow Hollow treads somewhat unsteadily between horror and comedy, but writer-director-star Jim Cummings' unique sensibilities make for an oddly haunting hybrid.

David Fear Rolling Stone It's the personal demons rather than old-fashioned monsters that get you - one of [the] central tenets of Cummings' genre exercise/portrait of a screw-up mash-up. Rated: 3/5 Oct 13, 2020 Full Review Kevin Crust Los Angeles Times "The Wolf of Snow Hollow" is a pleasingly quirky outing that has fun with the mythologies of both monsters and men. Oct 9, 2020 Full Review Josh Kupecki Austin Chronicle Cummings is so whip-smart in sustaining his manic energy with a layer of genuine pathos, that the effect transcends one-note cliche. Oct 9, 2020 Full Review David Day Horror Movie Talk The Wolf of Snow Hollow is a very relatable and well-made movie that just happens to feature some very tense moments. It’s more fun than I bargained for, and the twist is quite good once you put together what it all means for all the characters involved. Rated: 9/10 Sep 18, 2025 Full Review Kate Boyle InSession Film The Wolf of Snow Hollow is another fantastic film from Jim Cummings. Its quirky sense of humor, surprisingly deep family dynamics, mixed with the murder mystery story make for an entertaining and unpredictable horror-comedy. Rated: A+ Mar 8, 2023 Full Review Eve Tushnet Patheos Snow Hollow is willing to name things like “toxic masculinity” and “anger issues” explicitly, but deft and subtle enough to show these abstractions emerging from and intersecting with the werewolf plot naturally. A C Cannot recommend. I never write reviews but I feel compelled to do my best to prevent anyone else from wasting their time on this one. Truly awful acting and I think they may have been trying to be campy but it fell flat and was just terrible. Story was kind of interesting but the whole bad alcoholic dad bit was so over the top it was unbelievable. The outbursts from the lead were insufferable... actually let's just call the lead insufferable altogether. I recognized some solid actors in this one but their talents were largely wasted. I usually give horror flicks the benefit of the doubt but this one... skip it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/18/25 Full Review Contra C Definitely worth a watch, Jim Cummings' performance is great, Robert Forster has a small but well done role, there are some genuinely funny moments and some genuinely scary moments. The movie moves right along, the snowy setting is actually quite beautiful. I give the film a solid B+. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/11/25 Full Review robert b Uneven but fascinating. Keeps you hanging on till the weird and wild ending. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/25 Full Review Logan D A small Utah community is terrorized by a werewolf and the cops investigating led by a sheriff (director Cummings) with anger issues. A interesting but uneven entry in the “small-town horror-comedy” subgenre. It's clever and stylish, though not entirely cohesive tonally. Some might find those shifts uncomfortable. I found the film a nice unconventional twist on the werewolf mythos and enjoyed how it represented the toxic masculinity portrayed by the sheriff. Last film of Robert Forster's career. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/09/25 Full Review Kit G not good !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/25 Full Review Aaron N I’m not sure which movies the haters watched but I thought it was brilliant! The acting was great the pace was on point..As a fan of David Lynch, this was a welcome surprise. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/30/25 Full Review Read all reviews
