Thelma is visually and sonically impressive, with images that linger in the mind long after the film has ended, but a superfluous narrative detour strips the film of any uniqueness. Go to Full Review

"Thelma" treads the line between the psychological and supernatural, gracefully at first, and then with increasing abandon. Go to Full Review

Trier tries on his first genre film. But instead of making a typical teen superhero flick, he portrays being adolescent truthfully - frightening sexuality: massive confusion where you can't trust your feelings nor your body & the terror of being in love. Go to Full Review

lee C. @leechew Dec 3 A huge disappointment. See more Gabriel T @GabrielFagundes Jul 29 It extremely effective in making the audience feel all kinds of things. It makes you fear the danger of a character disappear due to Thelma's ability and for what her parents would be capable of doing to stop her. To not know what is happening and the religious homofobia from her parents only increase the tension and the thrill. The dramatic aspect here is brutal and guilty is present. The characters are deep and have layers. At first, I thought it was just an uncreative sobrenatural horror, I was wrong See more jeroen v May 18 Slow burner and leaves you hanging in the end. See more Madam D Mar 26 A unique film with supernatural qualities, but somehow still believeable. After mostly being sad, the ending is almost happy. See more Rob G 11/24/2024 Very good movie. For those that like fast pace and action, this is not for you. However, the plot payoff is worth it if you can sit through this slow burner of a movie. Is reminiscent of the old 1970s movie Carrie without all the high school stuff but modernized. See more S R @ScottR 08/17/2024 Had some potential, but it became tedious. Some interesting cultural issues here with her coming from home school and religious family. Saw on Tubi. See more Read all reviews
