Kambole Campbell One Room With A View Thelma is visually and sonically impressive, with images that linger in the mind long after the film has ended, but a superfluous narrative detour strips the film of any uniqueness. Rated: 3/5 Aug 25, 2018 Full Review Peter Keough Boston Globe The scary moments are there, but they take patience. And then they take you by surprise. Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 18, 2018 Full Review Barbara VanDenburgh Arizona Republic "Thelma" treads the line between the psychological and supernatural, gracefully at first, and then with increasing abandon. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 7, 2017 Full Review Brian T. Carney Washington Blade A gripping Norwegian drama that is both irresistible and rather hard to describe. Dec 15, 2022 Full Review Sara Clements them. Joachim Trier’s Norwegian supernatural thriller Thelma gives us a new kind of queer superhero. Oct 27, 2022 Full Review Michael Cuby them. Thelma effectively utilizes horror tropes to say something profound about the trauma of repressing one’s queer desire and the healing freedom that can come after you finally stop and learn to love and embrace the person you are. S R Had some potential, but it became tedious. Some interesting cultural issues here with her coming from home school and religious family. Saw on Tubi. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/24 Full Review Corey K A long and tough watch that will make you uncomfortable, but the pay off is amazing and really moving. Reminded me of Carrie Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review Jonathan K Multiple interpretations allowed here... is it metaphor or allegory without any actual supernatural components at all? Is it superpower? Somewhere in the middle? A gorgeously shot and captivating film. An interesting tale of becoming. Very well acted by the lead, Eili Harboe.
