Little-people horrors have worked before — Don’t Look Now, Orphan — but this is toothless. Go to Full Review

For the first few minutes I thought it was a kids’ film, which gives you an inkling as to the general approach – right up until a teenager dropped the f-word. Go to Full Review

From its gaudy exterior to its heartfelt innards that tiny, menacing elves want to gouge out and display like a festive wreath, it's an enjoyable romp that is sure to get any Scrooge in the Christmas spirit. Go to Full Review

Combining elements of horror, dark comedy, and satire, "There's Something in the Barn" has the potential to become a new holiday season cult classic. Go to Full Review

Depending on your particular penchant for Yuletide horror, Magnus Martens’ There’s Something in the Barn is a serviceable blend of horror and comedy that doesn’t do any favors for the elf community at large. Go to Full Review

More satire and less seasonal slaughter would have greatly improved the unbalanced pace of this holiday horror. But Henrietta Steenstrup as the deadpan Politi officer is a treat throughout. Go to Full Review

Marcus A. @Marcus0811 5d This movie started out slow was ready to turn it off but then it got way better really good movie lots of laughs See more Rich C. @Cordu0702 Nov 4 Really liked this film. Worth the watch. See more Kim P Nov 2 Part family movie, part comedy, part gory horror, part Christmas theme...it's a Frankenstein's monster of a movie with different parts sewn clumsily together to make a strange entity. Imagine a scary Looney Tunes movie with live actors. The barn elves are waaaaaaayyy more realistic than the CGI seven dwarfs in the Disney remake, though! See more e6e6e e Oct 26 A comedic, entertaining horror with solid a atmosphere See more Crystal G Aug 17 Fun to watch if you are interested in a campy movie with references to other Christmas faves, (i.e. Clark Griswold plugging in the excessive decorative lighting), it’s more silly than horror. It’s worth a watch if you’d like to explore the multitude of ways a Barn Elf can injure a human, and see some great fighting scenes reminiscent of Gremlins. It was a bit light on Norwegian culture. It would have been cool to hear some holiday songs that weren’t in English. The lack of firearms leading to knife throwing and hand to hand combat was a nice Euro touch. “This isn’t America, we don’t go around shooting each other in the face and knees.” So, I guess impaling Barn Elves with curtain rods will have to do. Overall enjoyable if you don’t take movies too seriously 🎅🏼 See more Christopher H Mar 29 "Something in the Barn" - From Frustration to Festive Slaughter, with a Hint of Redemption "Something in the Barn" initially sets the stage for a holiday horror experience fueled by pure, unadulterated frustration. Martin Starr's portrayal of Bill, an utterly incompetent and unlikable father, is so effective that you'll be eagerly awaiting the family's just desserts. The film revels in their obnoxiousness, making the eventual slaughter feel like a welcome release. However, just as you're settling in for a gore-filled climax, "Something in the Barn" takes an unexpected turn, offering a surprising charm and even a hint of redemption amidst the chaos. While the initial experience is undeniably grating, the film ultimately delivers a unique and engaging Christmas horror story. If you're looking for a holiday movie that will test your patience before offering a darkly humorous and somewhat redemptive conclusion, "Something in the Barn" is worth a watch.
