SICKS6SIX S possibly James Masons worst ever film, the script is so bad that it is a lesson in how not to make a film, its only slightly redeeming feature is the song "Toddle Along" not because it is good but because of how bad it is, it sets a new benchmark in the lowering of standards, how this film got made is a mystery and I would have loved to read the Evening Standards reviews of it when it went on general release, the war years saw some terrible films dues to shortages it just a shame they had enough film reels to make this film, I've rated it at 20% because the sound quality and print quality are quite good on the version I watched on YouTube Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/07/24 Full Review Audience Member Unisnpired and boring. Despite James Mason's best efforts to keep a face that might suggest a film noir, the story never gets going and the cast, especially the female lead (Joyce Howard) is a pain in the eye to look at. Instead of focussing on the spionage themed story, the plot focusses on whether the female lead trusts the hero or doesn't. Thus, the movie involuntarily feels like a screwball comedy, despite trying so hard to be full of tension. There is all but on twist in the movie, and you can see it coming when the opening credits role, that's how obvious it is. Stay away from it. Unknown for a reason. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Noirish spy thriller with a touch of comedy thrown in. Moves fast enough to hold interest. on TCM.
