As well as this inadequate portrayal of abuse the storyline behind how exactly Amy and Judith (who are both white) came to adopt their son Adrian (who is Black) raises questions about the moral viewpoint of the film itself.

The horror movie They Wait in the Dark is nearly derailed by the amateurish performances from almost all of the cast members. However, the screenplay and direction hold up quite well, when it comes to suspense and a few surprises.

This movie either could've been really campy to make up for the lack of coherent plot and completely amateur acting, or could've leaned more on scary theatrics to distract from all the messy overlapping themes. Unfortunately this movie chose to do neither and it was a complete disaster. The very obviously paid for critic reviews make this even more infuriating.

Don't read the tomato critics on this movie because it was shockingly awful! Acting was terrible from start to finish from the two main characters, nothing interesting actually happens until the very end of the film and I even saw both of them blinking when they were meant to be dead 😂😂😂. Case closed on that one folks! 0.5/10 Billy

Do not be tricked by its rating this movie was ultimately a waste of time. If this movie was ship it would be the Titanic and I'm telling you to get off. I gave it 1.5 stars because at some points it was intriguing
