Though it verges into the worst parts of Christmas rom-coms at the end, This is Christmas is nevertheless imbued with the right amount of charm and festive spirit to warm anyone’s heart this holiday season. Go to Full Review

A take on love actually without being anything like the plot. Kindness and community. An all English cast which I love. No schmalz no corny one liners just a great film. Get hankies at the ready See more L. V Dec 22 This is a beautiful, charming Christmas movie. I can’t believe I never saw it before. It touched my heart, and I look forward to watching it yearly now. See more Sarah T @Sarah751 Dec 21 A whimsical Christmas film with a feel good factor reflecting the highs and lows of everyday life. Themes of loss, love, connection, feeling lost all touched upon. Throw in some rom com and you've got an enjoyable watch. See more Patrick F Nov 23 An enjoyable movie albeit a little short on laughs for a comedy. This Is Christmas is a gently enjoyable festive film—nothing groundbreaking, but warm and comforting enough for a winter evening. Timothy Spall sits slightly outside the main romantic plot, yet he acts with real aplomb, bringing a quiet depth whenever he appears. In fact, it’s his growing friendship with Jack Donoghue’s character—the young man who misplaces his railcard—that gives the film much of its lift. Their scenes together feel honest and grounded, and they’re where the story finds its real heart. The film avoids the usual glossy Christmas sentimentality and instead settles into something more down-to-earth and distinctly British. The supporting characters dotted throughout add gentle colour, and—somewhat unexpectedly—the most emotional moment comes when Joanna Scanlan’s character shares the loss of her partner earlier in the year. It’s a small scene, but it lands. The central romance between Alfred Enoch and Kaya Scodelario is pleasant, and well executed, though the chemistry never quite sparkles. Still, the film carries a decent underlying message about noticing the people around you and making small, meaningful connections. Overall, it’s a likeable Christmas film with a warm spirit, some genuinely touching moments, and a solid ensemble See more Read all reviews
