Robert Emms
Robert Emms is a graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and his stage performances in "Equus," "The Glee Club," and "War Horse." He was nominated for a best newcomer prize for his role in the 2008 production of "The Glee Club." He made his television debut that same year, landing a small part on an episode of the police procedural "Waking the Dead." The same year he also performed on the sketch comedy show "The Wrong Door." He's also appeared on the programs "The Street" and "Scott & Bailey." He finally made his big screen debut in Roland Emmerich's revisionist biographical movie "Anonymous," playing dramatist Thomas Dekker. The movie gained some controversy due to its exploration of the theory that William Shakespeare did not in fact write his plays. Emms's other big role from 2011 was co-starring in the feature film adaptation of "War Horse." Director Steven Spielberg had seen Emms performing the play on stage in London and subsequently cast him, though instead of playing the lead character of Albert Narracott, which Emms had done on stage, he would go on to play the supporting character David Lyons. That same year, trade film magazine Screen International listed Emms as one of the actors to watch for future success.
