Ryan Gilbey New Statesman 10/03/2017
At least a soap opera has the luxury of spreading its quota of sensationalism over many years. Concertinaed into a time span of mere days and distributed among only three households, the litany of suffering in Broken can appear hysterical. Go to Full Review

Director Rufus Norris bleakly contrasts ugly acts of violence with innocent pockets of childhood in this simple yet richly nuanced film. Go to Full Review
J. R. Jones Chicago Reader 07/19/2013
The comic and tragic elements are nicely balanced, and the three families' stories neatly and economically knit together. Go to Full Review

A first rating supporting cast is also responsible for some quietly observed moments, though none of the performers are able to mask the increasing hysterical elements of the film's overly dramatic narrative. Go to Full Review

The acting is good, but it doesn’t seem that any of these characters exhibit normal human behavior. See more sean o 08/30/2024 Very funny, slightly crazy. Loved it. See more John C 08/29/2024 underrated film with some incredible performances See more 01/07/2021 It was a super cute movie. I wasn't a fan of the ending because I did want mikes character to have a nice resolution. But I liked the way the plot went through the motions and I thought it was super entertaining. I loved skunks character and how realistically it was played. See more 07/08/2017 It was a powerful indictment of humanity versus the Catholic Church's views on suicide, homosexuality, and human frailty. I was truly moved by Sean Bean and the rest of the cast and their lives in a impoverished parish. It reflects that love and kindness is truly what it means to be a Christian-not judgement and lies.
