Audience Member What stood out most in this film were the close-up shots and not-so-steady camera work. The director put you on the ground with these three Iranian conscripts as they fought their way through several feet of snow in order to go AWOL. The camera shook as the soldiers ran away from their duties and being put so close to the action and the conscripts allowed for you to feel engulfed in the snowstorm and you sensed their struggle as they continued to move forward hoping to find shelter. As they made phone calls (not sure where the phone came from) to their loved ones, you felt they knew what lied ahead wasn’t their salvation. The three main characters were very well developed and the movie was entertaining despite the slow pace. This movie does not have a lot of dialog and you don’t really get to know the different characters a lot. But you do get to see them in a very hostile environment as they meet different people and their situation get more and more desperate.
