      Critics Consensus

Three Christs is far from an unholy mess, but this fact-based drama forsakes its talented cast with a disappointingly facile treatment of genuinely interesting themes.

Nick Schager The Daily Beast Peddles the sort of heartstring-pulling uplift traditionally reserved for year-end awards hopefuls. Feb 2, 2021 Full Review Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) These are all tremendous, longtime character actors who really get the chance to sink their teeth into this meaty work... [But] it takes a turn from which it never recovers. Jan 11, 2020 Full Review Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) To the extent that [the experiment] was an interesting thing to do, this is an interesting movie. Jan 11, 2020 Full Review Rahul Desai News9 Live (India) A dim, derivative drama about human psychology... Jul 25, 2022 Full Review Hannah Brown Jerusalem Post In spite of the doctor’s ultimate lesson in humility, this is a sad and upsetting story that in the end, has little point. Apr 8, 2022 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz For all its foibles and faults though, Three Christs is still an, at times, engrossing watch, anchored by three truly under-rated American actors at their best. Leta S I just watched this tonight and is actually a pretty good movie. One of RG's better movies and PD/WG superb as is their norm. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/17/23 Full Review Shock Therapy R In the world of mental illness, we rarely look for wisdom—we only look for "cures". However dignity and community and seeking to understand the Other, was curative. It's a historical fact. What we would not expect, and runs counterintuitive to the "normals" is that Dr. Stone, could, and indeed did, learn from his patients. This movie is a spiritual allegory about desperate integrity, loyalty, redemption, and salvation coming directly from divine patien[ce]. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/24/22 Full Review Audience Member Trochę zbyt zwyczajny. Tytuł i opis rozbudził moje oczekiwania, którym nie sprostał, ale i tak niezły. Czasem poruszy, czasem wywoła uśmiech Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review james g I didn't believe a word. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a pretty decent film. Good character development, interesting scenes of early 1960s Michigan and an interesting and, apparently, true story. If you're interested in the history of psychiatry, I recommend it.
