Through the Back Door is a big improvement over The Love Light, but it is unworthy of the star who adorns it. Go to Full Review

It is so silly and so cheap that we found it difficult to place the blame where it belonged and not pass on our resentment to Mary Pickford, the star. We are. quite sure, however, that when Mary did it she must have sighed resignedly. Go to Full Review

Nick M Dec 28 A mother leaves her daughter, Jeanne, in the care of her nursemaid to go on her honeymoon... for 5 years... then expects to be able to pick up like nothing ever happened, but the woman who now considers Jeanne her daughter has other ideas. There are some cute moments here, but ultimately the film is a pedestrian one that attempts to shoehorn far too many elements into its 90 minutes to really do justice to any of them. Mary Pickford is fine, but even she can't turn this sow's ear into a silk purse. This comedy/drama really shows her versatility as an actress & how truly talented she was. The story of a Belgian tram like girl moving to the US with all the troubles that come with it...this film was also partially directed by Jack Pickford Mary's brother. See more 11/24/2011 This mother and daughter drama is a predictable, yet sweet, story. Pickford does an okay job in a role she often played. The rest of the cast seem to be possibly non-actors, with the exception of Menjou, of course. Overall, it's an okay movie. See more Read all reviews
