I wouldn’t classify this film as a horror, but there are definitely some unsettling scenes in it. That being said, I was hooked from the moment this started. The children are phenomenal actors, the cinematography was stunning, and the story kept me on edge. I loved this.

I may be being harsh, the more I think about it, the better the film was, but it was labeled a horror film and that is not what this is. I liked the concept, but felt that some of the execution fell a bit flat. The supernatural as a metaphor or manifestation of trauma or real-life horror is a cool idea, and the animation on the graffiti at the beginning was very atmospheric, but the plot didn’t really hold together for me, and some of the special effects started to seem gimmicky as the movie progressed.

Masterpiece. Stunning in every way. The acting of these children is as good and nuanced as any Academy Award winner. The realism is heartbreaking, but there is humor as well. Easily one of my very favorite films.
