Roxana Hadadi Pajiba Tigers Are Not Afraid is unrelenting in the darkness of its material, but Issa López merges the genre conventions of fairy tales and ghost stories with the genuinely dizzying emotions of childhood. Sep 6, 2019 Full Review Eve Tushnet Patheos The fairy-tale, magical/horror elements are a little too constructive and strenuously uplifting. Sep 18, 2023 Full Review Bill Bria Vague Visages What Tigers Are Not Afraid doesn’t contain in terms of deep characters and real-world specificity, it makes up for with its supernatural elements, allowing its allegory to resonate. Georgan G This facinating film about the connection between crime and childhood grabs your attention and never lets go. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is that the lighting was bad so I had to depend on Wikipedia to understand what was happening for some important scenes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/03/24 Full Review Alec B The Guillermo del Toro influence here is obvious but Issa López finds a way to give the story a sense of modern urgency. We don't need to reach too far into the past to find ghosts. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Candace R I loved this. It reminded me of the resilience of children and how powerful human imagination can be for helping us through terrible experiences. The child actors were incredibly talented and the animations so original. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/23 Full Review Emilliano S Stand by me meets Sicario. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/08/23 Full Review Alexander B It's a horror movie that symbolizes the real horror of slums in Latin America. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/31/23 Full Review Alejandra P Beautiful and touching story. Had me bawling my eyes out by the end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
