Issa López
Director, writer and producer Issa López was born in Mexico. She has won several literary awards, and has had several movies produced from her scripts. She was inspired by traveling through small towns of Mexico in her childhood, despite the economic hardships her family faced. She went on to study archeology and cinema, and started out by co-writing telenovelas, but had her film debut writing the script for "Ladies' Night" (2003), which quickly became a box-office success. López wrote and directed "Tigers Are Not Afraid" (2017), which premiered at Fantastic Fest and went on to earn her the Best Horror Director Award. The movie proved to be a huge success, and over fifty awards in other festivals around the world, a testament to her abilities. Having cemented her reputation internationally, she went on to direct and co-write all the episodes in the fourth installment of "True Detective" (HBO, 2014- ).
