Christina Newland iNews.co.uk Chukwu’s empathetic and insightful character study of Mamie Till is a howl of pain and a towering, emotive viewing experience even after all of these years. Sep 18, 2024 Full Review David Stratton The Australian The screenplay, by the director in collaboration with Michael Reilly and Keith Beauchamp, is filled with rich detail, such as the different ways in which attendees at the trial are treated according to their colour. Rated: 4/5 Mar 10, 2023 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald Till distinguishes itself with the intimacy of its approach. As well as possessing a luminous beauty made for close-ups, Deadwyler, displays a deep understanding of Mamie’s grief and her urge to make her son’s memory stand for something. Rated: 4/5 Mar 10, 2023 Full Review William Stottor Loud and Clear Reviews Chinonye Chukwu’s third feature, Till, is an angry and inspirational story surrounding racism in America, a film as much about the 1950s as it is the present day. Rated: 3/5 Aug 13, 2024 Full Review Sarah Vincent Sarah G Vincent Views Why should anyone watch “Till” other than it is good for you? Deadwyler’s performance, the lived-in feel of the period piece to make it feel immersive and contemporary, not ancient and removed, and the music as a horror element. Chase T A movie every Caucasian needs to see. Is it hard to watch? Yes. Sometimes the truth hurts, but it's how we learn and grow and be better humans Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Carlos R. Magnificent Academy Award worthy performance by Danielle Deadwyler with great supporting performances around her. Knowing of the real tragedy, going in I knew this was going to be extremely emotional and Deadwyler made you feel Mamie Till’s pain. Completely heartbreaking. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Bonnie loved the movie, so sad Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Mai The movie was excellent! So raw educational emotional and amazed it took 67 years for Anti-Lynching to be effective.!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Jordan H another mediocre wikibio film Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/01/23 Full Review Mr. Hollywood Was a good movie but shouldve been more powerful. Only thing I think wouldve made it more powerful wouldve been to show the brutality. I get why the director chose not to show the violence but I would say for this story it was a weird choice seeing as how Mrs. Till in real life chose to show the brutalitys aftereffect to make people see and not hide it. Other than that, was a good film. The scenery and production is gorgeous and brings out the 50s fashion and life. Love the use of the yellow color and how its given a life of its own.
