Birithivy Y Tim Dillon: This Is Your Country - 9/10. Tim Dillon is a comedian that I’m familiar with through his podcast and his guest spots on other shows. So this special literally came out of nowhere, and legit, was an equally hilarious and equally depressing watch. Hilarious because this was an incredibly well made satire and homage to classic 90’s trash tv (ala Jerry Springer). And depressing because, if the opening of the special is actually accurate, this is actually real people and real scenarios. Some of these scenarios are ridiculous and over the top, some of them are cingey, and some of them are just downright disturbing as to how negligent someone is with their finances. Tim Dillon has vocally been expressing how America is going on a downward spiral, and it makes sense that he made something like this. Ironically, I can actually see him becoming a replacement for Springer for another show. Its hilarious and wild, and its one of those specials that really taps into not just the comedian’s style and audience, but also works as a great insight into media and how people are viewing the country and vice versa. Though this might be not for everyone, I will say that this is the type of reality tv and satire that I feel like Dillon should focus on if he does more Netflix programs.
