Overall the movie was a cute, fun time that coordinates perfectly with its fellow horror comedies, with less gore and genuine scares than Bodies Bodies Bodies, but more gays and heart than its fraternal twin, Totally Killer.

While “Happy Death Day” is a fun slasher turn to “Groundhog Day”, this teenage slasher flick provides a similar treatment onto “Back to the Future” with generational humor effectively amusing through engaging characterization, enough to find the twist somewhat unprecedented towards a satisfying payoff.
