Audience Member I love time travel films (and books), but this one needed better editting. It was way too long, and much of it pretty boring. It was salvaged by a good plot twist in the last half an hour of the film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Far from terrible, but it's really just a depressing teenage romance movie rather than sci-fi, utilizing time travel merely as a plot device. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member a sad but mesmerizing movie based on travelling through time to send a message to someone . sticks to the formula of not changing the past . the music is beautiful and the costume design is also another plus. if you are fan of Japanese cinema than you should check this movie out . Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A somewhat sequel to the original "Girl Who Leapt Through Time" this has a goofy set up, that didn't seem like it would be worth the time, but once the story starts to lay itself out, it became more involving. Sort of like a teen romance drama version of a "Quantum Leap" episode, which isn't a bad thing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Saya suka film ini, ringan, lucu, dan menghibur. Sedikit kaget dengan klimaks menjelang ending film yang kelam dan depressing, tapi justru itulah yang membuat film ini semakin hidup. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Akari (Riisa Naka): "Ryota, you're gonna be a famous director and marry a beautiful actress, and have cute kids. But at that time, I'll be a person of the past. Weird. 'Cuz I'm from the future." I was delighted to find out that there was a live-action prequel to the movie, after having viewed and instantly falling in love with the anime adaptation "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" (Toki wo kakeru shojo). First, mad props to Netflix for having this available on their on-line stream. This movie expands on the story that "Aunty Witch" tells Makoto, about having experienced time-travel as well. Although the majority of the plot revolves around Makoto Konno's cousin, Akari, and daughter of Kazuko Yoshiyama (Makoto's "Aunty Witch") own time-travel adventure; Kazuko's story served as a subplot and was the catalyst to Akari going back in time. Also, unlike Makoto's time-jumping where she repeats or re-lives a moment over and over until she gets the results she wants (kind of like "Groundhog's Day with Bill Murray); Akari time-travel is more like "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve, where she goes back in time just once and lives in the past until her inevitable return to her own time. This movie was a little bit more dramatic than the anime; I mean granted the anime had a sad moment in it but was overall generally light-hearted; this was still pretty interesting to watch and overall the story was good. The characters were wonderful, especially the charismatic Ryota (played by Nakao) and the goofy Gotetsu (played by Munetaka Aoki). The effects were a bit lackluster and half-assed (especially when Akari was littlerally running back through time) but the story more than makes up for it and makes this movie worth-while to watch. I dig it! ;) Kind of sad, kinda cute but overall a good flick to check out. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
