Steve D It all comes off really cheap. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Where to begin.....Gosh, I watched this film a dozen times when I was 13; I loved it. Now, I couldn't get through five minutes of streaming when nostalgia drove me to perform a YouTube search. The movie is so, so, soooooooo terribly acted. The costumes and special effects are almost as awful. Did I mention the acting must be some of the worst produced by the 1980's? Brendan Hughes- the lead actor- had so few lines it's almost impossible to lay any blame at his feet, but, truly, the dialogue, the talent, the costumes....it's so horrid it made me uncomfortable to watch even for mere moments years later. Don't do it. Not even for a minute. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Wonderful cheesy vampire boyfriend fun. Okay, maybe it was not that good... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Brendan Hughes is the only excuse I have for enjoying this film so much. Whilst initially I thought him wimpy, there's something intriguing about him that helps you to see past the 80's-ness of the film and the awful special effects (or defects as my husband calls them). I want to see more of Mr Hughes, and although not in the sequel, Son Of Darkness To Die For II, Michael Praed is, so I want to see that too. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member One of my favorite vampire movies. The classic good vamp versus bad vamp. The end sucks - they build up to a big fight then it falls apart.
