Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Wade Major FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) A meeting of minds and cultures that's not like Crocodile Dundee -- it's not played for laughs. It's meaningful, and you feel like you're on a journey with both sides. Sep 4, 2024 Full Review Mark Jackson Epoch Times "Tokyo Cowboy's" realistic, comedy-lite approach to the lead character's culture shock makes for a mildy cringeworthy cinematic experience. Jeff C This was a very interesting and different movie. It was funny at times, and I never knew where exactly it was going. I like not knowing where a movie is headed to. The acting was very good, and realist. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/24 Full Review Rachel It was a very specific story and I loved the fact that there were multiple languages spoken throughout the film. This film dealt with real human issues and situations, while having levity and humor throughout. There was so much heart in this film and I cant wait for more people to see it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/06/24 Full Review Minnie M Loved that it was an original movie and not based on IP. The writing and directing was wonderful and it clearly had strong producers behind it. I liked that it was a small indie drama and the humor and comedic moments really played so well in the theatre! A very fun theatrical experience. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review TSB2 This is a great movie. It's billed as a comedy, but it's really a gentle drama. The characters drive the story, and it's strong without being mean or angry. This is the first movie this year that I would see a second time in the theater. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review Kyle C Simplistic but classic fish-out-of-water story about a Tokyo businessman who buys a ranch in Montana with lofty goals but soon has to learn The True Power of Friendship in order to save it from itself. This movie has a lot of charm and a few interesting directorial choices, if the script and performances are maybe a little plain. It’s respectful in its exploration of cultural differences, pointing out the humor without making any one culture the butt of the joke. That being said, it’s obvious that the writers aren’t actually all that familiar with the cowboy-culture of the plains states as the characterizations and aesthetics can feel a bit inconsistent. At the end of the day, it serves up a crowd-pleasing message, if not a very deep one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/11/24 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed it. The scenery was great. The plot line was a bit bland, making problems that probably should've been much more complex and difficult to solve almost resolved on its own, like a fairytale. But you gotta enjoy a light hearted fairytale sometimes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
