Claudia Puig FilmWeek (LAist) Low-key, likable, a little bit slow but touching ultimately. Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Calvin Law The Asian Cut While 'Tokyo Cowboy' doesn’t reinvent any wheels, it’s a lovely fulfilling watch that nails all its goodhearted intentions. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 24, 2025 Full Review Ray Greene CineGods.com A gentle movie that in some ways may be the most daring debut feature of the year. Rated: 3/4 Nov 6, 2024 Full Review Wade Major FilmWeek (LAist) A meeting of minds and cultures that's not like Crocodile Dundee -- it's not played for laughs. It's meaningful, and you feel like you're on a journey with both sides. Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Miyako Pleines Spectrum Culture What is supposed to be a heartwarming story of a rigorous businessman having his very own Cheryl Strayed moment ends up feeling more like an opportunity for audiences to find humor in cultural differences — and not in a good or flattering way. Sep 4, 2024 Full Review Mark Jackson Epoch Times "Tokyo Cowboy's" realistic, comedy-lite approach to the lead character's culture shock makes for a mildy cringeworthy cinematic experience. Chad This film was an absolute delight! Ive had grand adventures in Japan and spent memorable times working a ranch in Utah. This film gave me a blend of happy memories. I look forward to owing it in DVD when it comes out. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Jeff C This was a very interesting and different movie. It was funny at times, and I never knew where exactly it was going. I like not knowing where a movie is headed to. The acting was very good, and realist. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/24 Full Review Rachel It was a very specific story and I loved the fact that there were multiple languages spoken throughout the film. This film dealt with real human issues and situations, while having levity and humor throughout. There was so much heart in this film and I cant wait for more people to see it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/06/24 Full Review Minnie M Loved that it was an original movie and not based on IP. The writing and directing was wonderful and it clearly had strong producers behind it. I liked that it was a small indie drama and the humor and comedic moments really played so well in the theatre! A very fun theatrical experience. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review TSB2 This is a great movie. It's billed as a comedy, but it's really a gentle drama. The characters drive the story, and it's strong without being mean or angry. This is the first movie this year that I would see a second time in the theater.
