In this new film, Jack Ryan is reluctantly thrust back into the world of espionage when an international covert mission unravels a deadly conspiracy, forcing him to confront a rogue black-ops unit, and the clock is ticking. Operating in real time with lives on the line and the threat escalating at every turn, Jack reunites with battle-tested CIA operative Mike November (Michael Kelly) and former CIA boss James Greer (Wendell Pierce), their combined experience the only edge they have against an enemy who knows their every move. Backed by an unlikely new partner -- razor-sharp MI6 officer Emma Marlowe (Sienna Miller) -- Jack and the team navigate a treacherous web of betrayal, facing a past they thought was long put to rest -- making this the most personal, high-stakes mission any of them have ever faced.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Plowing through a routine globe-trotting with mechanical efficiency but little else, Jack Ryan: Ghost War reduces John Krasinski's once-compelling CIA operative to a personality-free action cipher.

Krasinski executive produced and co-wrote the screenplay but doesn’t seem to have been very interested in character development or meaningful dialogue. Go to Full Review

[Krasinski] makes you care whether Ryan can get out of pickle after pickle, enough to make you wish there will be another Ryan standalone film in the future. Go to Full Review

John Krasinski can do anything, except turn the livewire CIA operative he played for four TV seasons into something other than a pale shadow of his former self trying to pass muster in an ill-conceived two-hour movie. Go to Full Review

Krasinski is a good action star but he's a little bland here due to writing, producing, starring, and basically attempting to be a Jack Ryan of all trades. Go to Full Review

A routine return for Jack Ryan and friends, as a new conspiracy pulls him out of civilian life, but this globe-trotting actioner is more functional than fun Go to Full Review

David G @BingeWatcher73 5h I enjoyed this movie, but I noticed several instances where anyone who had not watched the seasons of the Jack Ryan show on Prime would be lost. It’s like they didn’t have enough content or time to shoot a full season of the show so they decided to make a movie instead. This movie is essentially for fans of the show. They should have done a better job of making it a standalone movie. See more Tim M @tgmacman 2d Worthy of its straight-to-streaming status, Jack Ryan: Ghost War wastes John Krasinski on a rote, unexciting actioner. See more Guido G @ice11red 3d Wanted to like this movie more than I did. Predictable plot. See more A S @inky.pinky.ponky0310603 5d Predictable, unfortunate for such a big production. See more LA B @RT90577089 5d The script was a disservice to the actors. The special effects were worse than terrible 1980s super hero movies. 2 stars is for the actors, the movie deserves only 1 star. See more David D @Davem7 Jul 3 Some good acting, but the script is SO lame. They tried way too hard to make moral or political points that were painfully shallow. Almost like the writers are just shallow people so they don't know how inept they are at depth (ex. the light/dark trope). Horrible ending to this Jack Ryan series :-( See more Read all reviews
