Greg Wetherall Little White Lies Cleaves close to a VH1 style, but a must for fans. Rated: 4/5 Oct 20, 2021 Full Review David Ehrlich indieWire Wharton does an expert job of lacing the songs themselves in between the context she provides for them, but amidst the studio sessions and tour footage "Somewhere You Feel Free" can't avoid a kind of trap that music docs often fall into. Rated: C+ Mar 25, 2021 Full Review Nick Allen RogerEbert.com If you're not already a Petty fan, the film is too inside-baseball to reel you in, or help you 'get' what makes him special compared to his peers. Mar 23, 2021 Full Review Alessandra Rangel InSession Film This project turned out to be special because it found Petty trying to create something on his own and away from the “democratic process..." Rated: B Jul 15, 2024 Full Review Rob Thomas Capital Times (Madison, WI) "Somewhere You Feel Free" is a poignant look back at Petty at his creative peak, and if you don't feel compelled to listen to "Wildflowers" after seeing it, you're made of stronger stuff than me. Rated: 3/4 Oct 22, 2021 Full Review Ayeen Forootan In Review Online For Tom Petty die-hards, Wharton's soulful effort will undoubtedly deliver cravable documentation of a moment in time worth cherishing. ryan g Awesome behind the scenes of an awesome album! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is not a comprehensive story of Wildflowers, it's a collection of the good vibes that went into its creation. I think it's a really good choice to not spend too much of your rock doc staring into the abyss, I've never seen it done quite like this. Best thing I learned about these sessions is that Tom recorded a song featuring both a Beatle and a Beach Boy, and it did not make the album.
