Stephen C @bob25009 Oct 4 Success in 1 hour and 32 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See more Alec B @AlecMichaelB Jan 20 Tom Thumb is an adorable 1950s musical that exudes charm, reminiscent of classics like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Babes in Toyland. Russ Tamblyn brings the perfect amount of adorable boyish charm to the titular role of Tom Thumb. The film’s musical numbers are delightful, with a level of creativity and polish that rivals Walt Disney’s feature films of the era. Definitely dated (cringing at the Chinese toy scene), it still offers cute dance numbers and a playful tone that older generations probably remember welll. It is quaint with a sweet story full of morals, with vintage special effects. Take it for what it is. At that time it was state of the art. Please don't compare the effects to Star Wars. It was a different era. Hopefully your children aren't too jaded to be entertained by this children's classic. See more 08/27/2019 The stop motion will be enjoyed by the kids though there is nothing exceptional about it. The musical numbers are forgettable except for the one without words. If you come looking for a Peter Sellers movie you will be disappointed as he has a secondary part and only mumbles about a half dozen words. The main attraction along with the stop motion is Rus Tamblen's creative acrobatics and dancing; without it the movie would be very boring. An extra plus is that it's in color. Alan Young is a surprisingly good singer (I assume it's not dubbed) and June Thornburn is easy on the eyes. See more Read all reviews
