These hungry ghouls hunt their prey at the speed of molasses, and that includes multiple scenes in which they ride slow-motion horses... still, even a shuffling chase can be high-tension. Go to Full Review

Character actions don’t always make sense, but the ghoul designs are top-notch. Go to Full Review

Overall, it is a film of strangely affecting beauty with a definite Spanish flair that has a certain hypnotic quality to it. Go to Full Review

If you have an interest in the history of horror cinema, or if you simply enjoy the visual language which would subsequently be adopted by the masters of giallo, this film is a must see. Go to Full Review

It gets a little more engaging, I suppose, when the Blind Dead at last get up and around and back in the action. Go to Full Review

It offers several interesting moments, such as mixing the dead with vampirism. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Jonathan O 11/13/2024 This is a very different kind of zombie horror film but it's so fascinating to watch a Spanish zombie horror film and spooky atmosphere in the banned area which makes it work for horror and unbelievable gory deaths scene which is quite shocking. See more andy f 01/05/2020 Visually stunning but dramatically tiresome. See more júlio a 10/13/2019 Poxa, esperava tanto desse zumbi com templários, mas foi apenas méhhh, sexpleitation com zumbis mas é meio besta ahahahaha See more 11/16/2018 The Voice Dub was not very good on this film. It is consider to be Spain's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. Templar zombie knights with swords and horses look great. Some cool chanting music to go with that. Some good scenes of suspense. Lesbian desire, sexual violence and the unholy onslaught of the eyeless undead! It is rated PG racing overtones but nothing to wild . In fact this film would have been better served if it ramped up violence. Not a real scary horror. I am loving these seventies eurohorror-flicks! See more 06/17/2017 Good, creepy, midnight horror. See more 04/11/2017 I was looking for creepy and this story about the accursed Templar Knights who were executed and had their eyes pecked out by birds but then came back from the dead to haunt their abandoned medieval Portuguese town seemed just the ticket. Reviews suggested that the gore was on the lighter side for this kind of Euro-Horror and that's true enough - however, a nasty rape scene was not what I wanted. Although the human rapist does meet his doom at the bony hands/teeth of the Satanic knights, this does not justify sexual violence against women. Considering the film without that scene - and, apparently, it was edited out in some prints - the film does have a spooky quality. These lumbering blind zombies and their slow-motion horses are rather relentless. Of course, as could be expected, the acting is not strong and the actions of the characters are implausible at best. Moreover, the Foley artists were really working overtime (I'm reminded of the recent and recommended Berberian Sound Studio, 2012). But I can't recommend this film given its content -- not unusual for horror during this time period and in Europe, but still unwelcome. I just wanted creepy. See more Read all reviews
