Audience Member The small time criminal and convenient store owner Ali (Leon Bashir) is coming out of a jail in Oslo, where his two friends Nico (Anders Danielsen Lie) and Bobby (Farakh Abbas) are waiting. Ali wants to climb the ladder and be taken more seriously as a gangster. Eventually The Dane (Kim Bodnia) gives them a mission to steal a stuffed falcon. A not too difficult mission you would think. But, of course Ali and his friends mess things up and lose the Falcon. And suddenly they owe The Dane half a million. Money they don´t have... "Tomme Tønner" is a classic slapstick action comedy (similar to the swedish movie "Kopps") and yes it does have its moments, but at the same time its just a tad bit over the top for my taste. They manage to take things just a bit too far in several scenes. Teaming up Kim Bodnia and Slavko Labovic (they played against each other in the danish movie "In China They Eat Dogs" from 1999) feels just like an attempt to ride on that movie and the chemistry between Bodnia and Labovic instead of finding their own norwegian antagonist with the same weight. Not that they do a poor job here. I do like Kim Bodnia. Jenny Skavlan doesn´t get that much to work with as Yasmine. She´s an attractive woman for sure, but there´s more to her I reckon. It was interesting to see Anders Danielsen Lie in the role of the crazy Nico, as I have just seen him in very serious roles before. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member genialt!min type humor. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Why will every country wanna have their own Goodfellas and Pulp Fiction. Every Norwegian loves the idea of orginised crime such as in USA. An city run by our enymies: The Danish, Swedish and the North-Norwegians. We do not need to make such movies as they do in the state to be cool. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member The first Norwegian gangster comedy where we follow a clumsy Oslo crew and their dirty jobs. The story is thin, the acting is poor (with some exceptions) and it's a bit chaotic to hang on too. Still it's a great laugh - some scenes are super. Better than expected but personally I don't see any reason for making the sequel these days. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Seriously just epic. One of the best movies I've seen in a while. It was hilarious. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews
