Audience Member It was so stupidly funny that my abs got a workout. It was obviuosly a parody of those old kung fu movies and I say it was brilliantly done. Tongan Ninja will always be a classic to me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member not quite sure if this is an actual film - it's more a home-made patchwork of sketches/fights. It's obviously notable for being Clement's first role, but the songs in it a ripoffs, the fights & CGI are really poor, the voices are dubbed and the story is lame. There's a few funny jokes, but overall - even for an ultra-low-budget movie - there's not enough to enjoy. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member It is a crime against art and humanity that this movie was never awarded an Oscar. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Amusingly funny low (very low) brow comedy. Dumb but fun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Goofy. Really, really goofy. The movie is a low budget martial arts film from New Zealand and it knows it, which is probably the reason why the humor works. Self deprecating and full of cheesy effects and intentionally bad dubbing. Its a good time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Some great fun to be had here, even if the intentionally dodgy martial arts voiceover doesn't allow you to bond to the title character. If you approach this expecting a bunch of mates larking about you'll be both right and pleasantly surprised. And of course, this being a Wellington project, I've met the director. Nice chap.
