      Critics Consensus

A horror comedy that's heavier on the laughs, Too Late proves monster movies and show business satire can go together frightfully well.

Audience Member I really wanted to enjoy this movie. I was driven by the rating. I was let down. Acting is bad. Could have been funnier. When I say it’s dumb it isn’t because there is a grown man monster that eats people. But because it was a collection of unfunny follies that didn’t equal an enjoyable movie watching experience. I have doubts about Rotten Tomatoes after this. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/21 Full Review Audience Member Witty dialogue, actors have good chemistry and the movie kept my interest all the way through. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/26/21 Full Review Audience Member Enjoyable romp through the LA world of ambitious actors and stand-up comics. The actors had good chemistry, dialog was frequently hilarious and pace was perfect. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/26/21 Full Review Audience Member Not that scary and not that funny. This is one of those movies that’s like, wink wink it’s a metaphor, do you get it? Yes we get it. That’s all we get though. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/25/21 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Carla Hay Culture Mix The only thing scary about the horror comedy Too Late is that people thought this painfully unfunny dud was good enough to make into a movie. It's a fake feminist movie [where] a woman who wants men to be killed [is] supposed to be 'female empowerment.' Jul 18, 2021 Full Review Andrea Chase Killer Movie Reviews Deadpan and droll in its exploration of monsters and their enablers, it doesn't so much expose anything new about what people are willing to do in order to succeed as present it with a puckish flair and a wicked sense of irony. Rated: 3/5 Jul 9, 2021 Full Review MontiLee Stormer MovieReelist.com Too Late is billed as a cozy horror-comedy, and I'll admit to not having any idea what that meant. It means it's a comedy with horror elements but it's super soft on scares. Rated: 3/5 Jul 5, 2021 Full Review Brooke Daugherty Pop Culture Leftovers Don't go into this film hoping for the gore of the Saw franchise or the ridiculousness of the Scary Movie series. This is more lite PG-13 gore, nevertheless quite enjoyable. Jul 1, 2021 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills They're all good. More of a smart throwaway than anything great, Too Late is nonetheless a likable horror comedy, with considerably more emphasis on the funny part of that equation. Jun 28, 2021 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film An uneven but likeable film with the guts to do things differently, Too Late won't work for everyone but its likely to win admirers who will watch it again and again.
