Nick Schager Lessons of Darkness Saying The Toolbox Murders is the finest Tobe Hooper film since The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ... isn't saying much. Rated: C+ Jun 20, 2005 Full Review Ed Gonzalez Slant Magazine Tobe Hooper's latest is not unlike an episode of Melrose Place as imagined by Lucio Fulci. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 14, 2004 Full Review Russell Edwards Variety Toolbox may not renew the splatter genre in any significant way, but the chills and kills prove Hooper, when armed with the right script, can still tighten the fright screws. Aug 2, 2004 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed The movie does boast ridiculous elements to its story and logic, but it's so bad it's good. Jun 3, 2010 Full Review Film Threat Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 6, 2005 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...Hooper creates a film that's almost as effective as his first big success - The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Liam D Tobe Hopper (The Equalizer, Dark Skies) last good movie and is an good slasher that surpassed its original Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/12/22 Full Review justin t I didn't hate it like I was expecting. It would have been better if it had been gorier but the intense terror also works. Not really a lasting horror but a good one that will make you feel tension and fear even if it is not petrifying. It reminded me of when I was younger and I got scared of being tied up. Not that that ever happened. I was not tied up as a child. I just got scared that I would. This movie has people being tied up and then tortured. Almost like an early Hostel (2005). Lots of dark scenes of torture. I found myself empathising with the character's fear. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review edward b Bit of a cult film Tobe Hooper is back on form with this well crafted and exciting horror film , it has an exciting plot and atmosphere and the film gets better as the movie goes on with a great finale to the film. Give this a shot especially if your a horror fan of the early 80s !! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review steve d The original was no classic but this is worse. No scares and drawn out chases that lead to nothing. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review delysid d i thought it was pretty good, reminded me alot of movies like death trap, people under the stairs, crawlspace Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/25/18 Full Review Audience Member A surprisingly effective, minimalistic slasher.
