After a trip to Russia, Diana Borden (Doris Nolan) returns to New York City, where her uncles have opened the Moonbeam Room, a nightclub at the top of a skyscraper. Soon after, she's hired as a chorus girl by bandleader Ted Lane (George Murphy), who is looking to land a gig in the new club. The two begin to fall in love, but when Ted reveals that he only hired her to help his own career, Diana quits. When Ted is finally hired at the club, now being run by Diana, their artistic visions clash.
