Matt Brunson Film Frenzy The story is decent and some individual scenes click, but the low-budget production values and some weak acting from the supporting players hurt. Rated: 2/4 Apr 28, 2024 Full Review John Beifuss Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN) 'She's dead,' muses Richard Carlson. 'She doesn't exist. She's a perfume, she's a footprint, she's a hand, she's a face in a picture...' In other words, she sure is present for something that 'doesn't exist'; isn't that the way 'dead' loves tend to be? Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 6, 2014 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Though it's passable entertainment, the ghost story developments are too ridiculous to be even considered real possibilities. Rated: C+ Oct 31, 2012 Full Review Steve Biodrowski ESplatter Bert I. Gordon is most well known for his low-budget 1950s sci-fi pics, but this little seen relic of 1960 is actually one of his better efforts. It is also one of the more entertaining installments of the always enjoyable Mystery Science Theater 3000. Aug 19, 2010 Full Review Read all reviews

Simon T Blithe Spirit with lighthouses. Terrible schlock made the same year as Psycho, but not that you'd notice. Ageing jazz pianist (King of the Bs Richard Carlson, looking embarrassed throughout) allows his squeeze to plummet to her death so he can marry his other squeeze. Highlights of this turkey are the blind housekeeper and Carlson's terrible miming of playing the piano. Profoundly stupid and - as with most drive-in movies incredibly slow. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/24 Full Review Blobbo X Memorable in a funny kinda way. That Paul Frees' voice replacing the dad's, for some reason. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/02/23 Full Review Chris M Again, this would be a great "Twilight Zone" episode over a feature length film as there is a lot of padding and filler. But this has a dumb fun that you can riff. Like the fact they should have used a model of the lighthouse over super imposing a real lighthouse that was suppose to be rundown, because you can see the windows are intact in some scene are broken in others. Normally Burt I. Gordon shitty effects work here. As the blurring, transparent and cutting things off gives Vi the ghostly effect that works, even if it's by accident. A good bad movie to riff and have fun with. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/22 Full Review John R A genuinely interesting premise, but the execution was just so ham-handed as to be mind-numbingly stupid. If it weren't for MST3k, this would not have been worth the time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/23/22 Full Review william k As ghost stories go, this is basically a silly tale, but has some effective moments, a disagreeable protagonist - and no happy ending. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review dave s Director Bert Gordon graduated from pumping out a string of schlocky, low-budget science fiction movies when he released Tormented, an equally low-budget but somewhat less schlocky horror film. While the production values (most notably some of the cinematography) are better than his previous efforts, in part due to the fact that there aren't as many special effects to laugh at, it's still a pretty lame film. The plot, which is cheesecloth thin, involves a man on the cusp of marriage who is haunted by his previous girlfriend, who he allowed to fall to her death from the top of a lighthouse. The acting is okay, but the dialogue is cheesy at times, the jazz score is totally wrong for a horror film, and the effects are more likely to provoke laughs than chills. At least he tried, though.
